    THE POSITION:

    The most important aspect of the Global Transportation Analyst is managing KPI reporting metrics, business intelligence and financial logistics. The Transportation Management system support of the MercuryGate TMS will also be a primary role. This is a complex and very detailed job function, demanding high levels of above average technical skills and attention to detail. The position will also interface with many varied entities from freight carriers, service vendors, freight auditing firms, FDA, US Customs and our clients. With this intense communication environment excellent interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills are critical to achieve the level of quality service the company is expecting to achieve.

    Responsibilities

     

    POSITION SUCCESS FACTORS:

    • Financial Logistics business intelligence reporting
    • Support Development and training on TMS systems including SOP’s and work instructions
    • Develop and lead Freight Spend Management solutions
    • Responsible for staying current with all internal processes for performance improvements.
    • The incumbent is expected to work with the SVP, Supply Chain Solutions in evaluating the efficiency, productivity and accuracy levels of the company and make process improvements to attain high levels of achievement for Top Decile in employee engagement and client delight.
    • Build positive cross-functional relationships with the internal customers and external clients. Advanced knowledge/skills in: 3PL industry, customer needs assessment, transportation analysis systems, TMS implementation and execution, cost benefit analysis and financial modeling
    • Critical thinking – analytical problem solving skills with significant amount of information
    • Creative thinking – dealing with imperfect information and ambiguity
    • Presentation skills – ability to inform and persuade internal and external stakeholders in relation to developed solutions
    • Demonstrate a passion for cost and service level optimization including above average technical skills

    • Ability to interact with clients, carriers and company through face to face, web-based and phone meetings

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Develop, maintain and support TMS project including training plans for the TMS implementation and functional SOP’s. KPI Client reporting including Real Time Reporting from TMS and EDI.
    • Direct client performance improvement projects for freight cost and claims.
    • Monitor delivered service and cost metrics with carriers and clients managing margin reports
    • Continuous Process Improvement and Problem Solving for financial transportation logistics
    • Maintain transportation team SOP’s and Work Instructions.
    • Put controls in place to reduce the risk for freight diversions through client cost reporting  
    • Investigative skills and a process methodology to ensure consistency and process efficiency for problem investigation are critical. Execute on data science needed for TMS and other business intelligence reporting metrics and KPI’s are key to Client Delight.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage the day to day performance, process improvement and strategic transportation reporting
    • Reduce company transportation cost, client cost, and improve margins
    • Manage the new partner agreements
    • Participate in and manage certain carrier relationships driving performance improvement.
    • Sales support, client analysis / consulting, shipment analysis for new vertical freight spend management.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    • Education: A Bachelor’s degree is preferred and 2 year(s) of experience or training or equivalent combination of education and internal or external experience.
    • Excellent ­­­communication skills, specifically ability to communicate effectively with clients.
    • Ability to problem solve and great attention to detail
    • Above average skills in Microsoft Excel, Access and Power BI
    • Familiar with WMS, and TMS system processes
    • Experience in transportation modes – Parcel, LTL, FTL, Import, Export
    • Billing systems for freight carriers and clients
